Weather is relatively stable throughout the year and there are two main seasons: dry and rainy. There are different biodiverse areas with drastic weather conditions. Hong Kong passport holders – SARG China, passport holders of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, passport holders of Taiwan-China, Nicaraguan nationals who prove to be natives of the North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region and the Autonomous Region of the South Caribbean Coast.

Nationals of Cambodia, India, Nicaragua, Myanmar, People’s Republic of China, Thailand and Vietnam may enter Colombia and temporarily remain in the national territory without a visa and provided they accredit:

– To be holders of residence permit of a State of the Schengen Area or of the United States of America.

– To be holders of the Schengen visa or of the visa of the United States of America with a minimum validity of 180 days at the time of entry into the national territory.

– For Nicaraguan nationals, this permission also applies if they prove to be Canadian visa holders or have a Canadian residence permit.

Pasangers from these countries DO NEED a visa:
The following countries require a Visa to enter Colombian territory. These countries refer to nationalities for which consular offices should not request prior authorization from the Internal Visa Work Group in granting visas, does not refer to all nationalities that require a visa. Algeria, Armenia, Bahrain, Benin, Belarus, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Equatorial, Haiti, India, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Kiribati, Kosovo, Kuwait, Lesotho, Macedonia, Madagascar, Malaysia, Malawi, Maldives, Mali, Morocco, Mauritius, Mauritania, Moldova, Mongolia, Namibia, Nauru, Nepal, Nicaragua, Niger, Oman, Central African Republic, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Swaziland, Thailand, Tanzania, Tajikistan, East Timor, Togo, Tonga, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Vietnam, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

It is important to know the risks involved in traveling. The most frequent conditions in Colombia are acute mountain sickness, stomach problems, malaria and yellow fever in some areas of the country.

This information corresponds to the current information of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Colombia:

In Colombia, travelers visiting areas below 2200 meters above sea level (especially jungle areas and some natural parks) are recommended to apply the yellow fever vaccine at least 10 days before traveling to:

• The departments of Amazonas, Caquetá, Casanare, Cesar, Guainía, Guaviare, Guajira, Meta, Putumayo, Vaupés and Vichada, where more than 80% of the municipalities are classified as high risk.
• The department of Magdalena: The district of Santa Marta and the municipalities of Ciénaga and Aracataca.
• The department of Norte de Santander, Catatumbo area: municipalities of Convention, El Carmen, El Tarra, Teorama, Sardinata, Tibu, El Zulia, Hacarí and San Calixto.
• The department of Chocó: Rio Sucio, Carmen del Darién, Juradó, Nuquí and Unguía.
• The department of Antioquia: Dabeiba, Mutatá, Turbo and Yondó.

Among others, the vaccine is not suitable for people with HIV positive, pregnant women and children under 6 months. In order to go to jungle regions or natural parks, other vaccines are also recommended, such as tetanus and hepatitis A and B. It is recommended that foreigners who come from countries that have the dengue vaccine get it before traveling if they are going to visit sites below 1,800 masl. Domestic power is 110 volts of alternating current at 60 hertz (110V AC, 60Hz). For industrial installations it is 220 volts of alternating current at 60 hertz (220V AC, 60Hz). Electrical connectors or plugs with two flat input pins or with a third round pin are used and it is easy to get power adapters and voltage regulators. It is advisable to review the technical indications of the devices to be used in Colombia.

It is advisable to change dollars and other foreign currencies to pesos in exchange houses at airports, hotels and banks. It should never be done in the street. Most hotels, restaurants and commercial establishments accept credit cards such as Visa and Master Card. Some sites receive American Express and Diners Club.
